Tavern on the Hill is hiring 100 employees as it prepares to open.

Tavern on the Hill begins hiring

More than 100 to start jobs before August restaurant opening

Tavern on the Hill, the Twin Ports’ newest and most exciting restaurant, on Monday began a four-day job fair to hire more than 100 workers who will help open the new-concept dining facility on Woodland Avenue. 

“We’re excited to be close to opening, and we’re looking for the right people who will help make Tavern on the Hill an immediate favorite with our community,” said Julie Thoreson, Director of Operations for Duluth-based Black Woods Group, which owns Tavern on the Hill. “This restaurant will be unlike any other in our region. We want people who will help us convey that excitement.”

Tavern on the Hill plans to open in mid- to late August at 1102 Woodland Ave., Duluth. It is the anchor restaurant in the residential and commercial development that includes the BlueStone Lofts apartment complex. It will seat 350 inside and 150 outside on a patio.

Tavern on the Hill will focus on fresh, locally sourced and healthy food, such as salads, soups, lean grilled meats, wraps, sandwiches and wood-fired pizzas, while making sure to satisfy Northlanders’ appetites with a full array of familiar dining favorites. The restaurant also will offer an innovative fresh juice and smoothie bar, as well as a large traditional bar. Many of the menu items will be available to go.

Dozens of job seekers are expected to apply Monday through Thursday at the Tavern on the Hill job fair for positions ranging from the management team to servers, cooks and support staff. The job fair is open from noon to 7 p.m. each day at Greysolon Plaza, 231 E. Superior St. in downtown Duluth.

Job candidates do not need to register beforehand. At the fair, they will fill out applications and interview with hiring managers. Applications can be found online at Applicants are encouraged to bring resumes and professional references.

Tavern on the Hill will contribute millions of dollars to the Twin Ports’ regional economy through construction and restaurant jobs, materials to build the new restaurant and purchases of locally sourced food.
